After a long hiatus due to COVID-19, we are thrilled to open registration for our group programs!
WELLCom Speech offers special programs for those diagnosed with brain injury/concussion, autism spectrum disorder or attention disorders. That said, a diagnosis is not needed, and anyone struggling to meet the social, cognitive, and communication demands of their school, work or home lives would benefit from these programs.
Being part of a group allows for intervention that is meaningful, motivating and appropriately challenging/complex - all of the ingredients that are required for the best learning! Most importantly though, group services allow participants to PRACTICE WITH THEIR PEERS, which brings them one step closer to taking what they learn in therapy and using it in their lives!
4 to 7 and 8 to 12-year-olds practice important communication skills with friends while engaging in fun activities and games. Skill practice may include listening, observation skills, perspective-taking, problem-solving, and self-regulation.
Pre-teens, teens and adults learn executive skill strategies in order to organization, focus, and self-regulate at school, work and home. Each session, participants practice using the strategies with their own work.
Adolescents and adults learn tools to understand and connect with others in demanding social settings (e.g., school, work). The program is tailored to the individual's strengths /weaknesses (cognitive, communication, physical, emotional) and goals.
